But knowing you love the effect and knowing where to begin are two different things.
It helps to see the materials, hear the ideas behind them, and watch someone show you how.

For this workshop, I’m inviting you into that part of my stitching.
I’ll share a canvas I’m planning to stitch, show you some of the combinations I’m considering, and explain the effects I’d like them to create.
Then we’ll take one of those ideas a step further with a live messy beading demonstration.
You’ll see how the technique comes together, from securing the first bead to creating an area filled with texture and sparkle.

I’m Ellen 🩷
My grandmother taught me to needlepoint when I was nine years old. That early introduction grew into a lifelong love of stitching—and, eventually, Serendipity Needleworks.
I’ve spent the past 25 years teaching stitchers how to explore stitches, threads, and techniques with greater confidence.
As a teacher, I love explaining the details: how something works, why a thread behaves the way it does, and what makes a technique useful on a canvas.
For The Artful Canvas, I’m bringing a piece I’m excited about, including a beading technique I look forward to sharing with you.
